Staying home from church

 In Uncategorized

2013 is almost over.

On the last weekend of the year, our church decided to do something different. We’ve cancelled all services, and we’re staying home.

It’s a great way to give our staff, leaders, and volunteers a break. We recognize that rest is important, and I love that they recognize and encourage it.

I talk about my church community quite a bit on my blog, as well as on social media. So, today, I’d love to share a little bit of The Orchard with you. Our staff put together a great online worship experience called Living Room Liturgy. It’s 22 minutes long, and a great way to take some time and reflect together as a family.

I’m reflecting on Scott’s questions of where God showed up in my life this year, and it is so beautiful. I hope you take the time to do the same.

Has your church ever asked you to stay home? I’d love to hear what you did instead.

Our church has done this each year since it’s inception – “Family Sunday”, the last Sunday of the year. Definitely important for churches that rely on volunteers there for hours every Sunday!
