One thing you wish
Today would have been my dad’s 81st birthday. It’s crazy to think that he only got to see 53 short years on this earth.
There used to be so many things I wanted to say to my dad. Things I wish I could go back and un-say. Thoughts I wish I had been able to articulate better at a young age. I beat myself up for this for a long time, until I learned to forgive myself. It’s not possible to fully understand what facing a lifetime without your dad will mean when you are 14.
Today, I think about what I would say if I had the opportunity to talk to my dad again. So many thoughts come to mind. But the most consistent one is always:
THANK YOU
Thank you for loving unconditionally.
Thank you for being a role model to look up to.
Thank you for modeling grace.
Thank you for being you.
I could go on with this list forever. But, today, I’d love to hear from you.
What would you say to someone who is no longer here if you had the chance?
I would thank my grandpa for taking me with him when he delivered hospital beds for a pharmacy.
