Choosing to celebrate

 In Jamie

Today is her birthday, and I can’t help but think of her on this day. I think about her all the time, actually. But today, I think of how much I miss her beautiful spirit, and I ache for her family who misses her so much.

My friend Jamie

Her love of life and beautiful spirit were a light in the dark to so many people. She invited us into a journey of pain and struggle, but reflected it in a beautiful and honest way.

Some days, I beat myself up for not having made more progress on a project I know she would want me to finish.  But, those moments pass quickly, because I remind myself that I am doing what she taught me to do.

I am living life.

I am enjoying my family, and spending time with those I love.

I am remembering to be thankful and content in my circumstances.

I am choosing to encourage others to live this precious life we have been given.

I am treasuring the people in my life.

I am thankful for each day I wake up.

I am living into who I was created to be.

Today, in honor of my beautiful friend Jamie, I choose to embrace life.

I choose to hug my kids and let the dishes stay in the sink.

I choose to go Christmas Caroling, and bring joy to those in a nursing home.

I choose to share an encouraging word with those around me, and smile at a stranger.

I’ve learned to do this on a regular basis, so today is just an added reminder to slow down a little more.

Today, I encourage you to choose to celebrate. Maybe you need to celebrate YOU. Or, maybe you need to celebrate someone you love. Choose to celebrate even the smallest thing. You’ll be amazed at what a difference it makes.

What are you celebrating today? Share in the comments so I can celebrate with you!

I choose to celebrate too, Tammy. I’m sorry for your loss but I do think that choosing joy and choosing life is the best way to honor those we miss. Thanks for sharing.
