No Complaining.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

I was excited to read this book. Honestly, I’ve had it for a while and hadn’t read it until earlier this week. I’ll be honest. If you know me, you know I am not a very big complainer. I really try to look at the positive side of things and not get so worked up about things I can’t control. However, lately, I have not been able to stick to that rule.

I have been a complainer. UGH! And I have not liked it one bit.

I slipped into a funk. I’m calling it a dreamer frustration period. Many of you know the journey I’ve been on over the last few years of learning to live differently.

A journey to move away from ordinary.

A journey to do something different.

A journey to make a difference in the world.

Some days I feel like I’ve moved mountains in that area. Other days, I feel stuck in quicksand. Every time I feel like I’ve made progress, something happens that makes me slide two steps back. Hmmm. Sounds like life, huh?

Usually, when I hit a negative slump, I can pull myself out pretty quickly. But when this one lasted a little longer than I could handle, I decided to pull this book out. I read it on a plane earlier this week, and it was just the kick in the pants that I needed.

Jon Gordon has a way of writing that is simple to understand, but tells a compelling story. There is usually a valuable life lesson in it that we can apply directly to our life. This book was no exception. The story follows a woman that many of us can relate to. Her home life is a mess, she has zero motivation at work, and she’s battling the voices in her head about her worth. Can anyone relate?

I think one of the reasons I like this book is because it can be applied to any area of our life. Work, marriage, parenting, working out, dreaming, etc.

I can’t wait to give a copy away to one of you!

Have you ever struggled with complaining?

There are enough complainers online. I try not to join them. I have gotten better over the last year though.
