Gratitude

Life is short.

I continue to learn this over and over. We know it, but we don’t always live like it, do we?

One of the best things I have learned to practice continually is gratitude. I find that it is really hard to be upset when you are giving thanks for what you have.

I thought I did an okay job of showing gratitude until I read One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. Wow. I had never thought of giving thanks for the kinds of things she recognizes and gives thanks for. It really made me look at life differently. While I still don’t find myself giving thanks for the soap suds that fly up while I am doing dishes, I have learned to appreciate things more frequently.

I still haven’t started my gratitude list that she suggests in the book. However, I do journal and often find myself listing what I am thankful for. I also enjoy reading many blogs that continually list what they are grateful for. I am also learning to tell people in my life that I am thankful for them more often. I want them to know that I am happy to have them in my life and that I appreciate them.

Today, I am grateful for you. My blog readers who comment and share and interact with me. Thank you for all you do!

How do you express gratitude?

Work on your gratitude list. 😉 It’s harder but better than you’d think!

So much to be thankful for. I’ve gotten better at living in gratitude the older I get. Thankful to have “met” you this year!

I’m not sure I am nearly as grateful as I should be. Not sure I show it.
