Your Voice

 In Uncategorized

I’m jumping in on Five Minute Friday again today. I really like this, and am going to try to make this a more regular thing. We write for five minutes flat. All on the same prompt that LisaJo posts here. We also connect on Twitter with the hashtag #FiveMinuteFriday {and on Thursday night with #FMFParty}.

Today’s word is VOICE.

I love this. It is something I have learned to understand over the last few years.

Your Voice Matters!!

We think it doesn’t. Oh, everyone is great at telling us that our opinion and our voice doesn’t matter. It won’t change anything, right? So why say something?

I believed this for so long. I tended to keep things to myself. I certainly was not sharing the struggles I was having. That would let people know that I was weak. And I wanted people to know I was strong. I had it all together.

But guess what? I didn’t. I was a mess. I was struggling with so many things and didn’t feel like I could talk to anyone about them. I didn’t have a community that supported me and encouraged me to be REAL.

I am so thankful that has changed. Understanding that my voice matters has helped me to grow in ways that I could never have imagined. It’s helped me to feel free. I’ve had conversations with people that I would never have had. I’ve helped people know that they aren’t alone. And that it’s okay to not appear to be “perfect.” Because that’s what perfect is. An appearance. An illusion.

Your voice matters.

You matter.

What have you been wanting to say? Have you been afraid to use your voice? Take one small step today. See what a difference it makes.

Great reminder. As a parent of daughters who all want to say what is being said, we find ourselves helping each of them discover their unique voice in the family conversation, and in response to God. 🙂 Good stuff!

Great encouragement, Tammy. Yes, I love being a part of a community that reminds me that my voice and each voice matters.
