Are you struggling?

I have been struggling with my writing lately. I went through a big guest post phase. While it was great, and I had a good time posting on other people’s blogs, I now find myself struggling to write again.

I know this is what happens. It’s normal. And I’m working through it. It will take discipline and continual practice, and it will be fine. As I have been thinking more about this, I have realized that just like life, our dreams sometimes slow down to a crawl. The key is to keep taking steps forward, no matter how small.

Lately, I have been constantly juggling to fit everything in. I have been blessed to be a part of some great book launch team groups, and have met some amazing people. I have learned so much in a short amount of time. Many of them are successful bloggers and authors. But, I’ve also tried to keep pace with some of them. I’ve tried to implement the same things that they are implementing. And while there is nothing wrong with that, I realize now that I have to prioritize what is most important to me now. I have to make sure that what I am doing is moving towards my dream, not where someone else thinks my dream should go.

I know this. I’ve actually implemented processes to help filter new things that come up. Yet, I continually find myself drifting and trying to stack more and more activity on top of what is already on my schedule.

Today, I am choosing to step back and realize where I am. I’m struggling a little bit. But, it’s okay! I will push through this. I take one step at a time.

What are you struggling with today?

One thing that energizes me is encouraging others, so I’d love to help. Leave a comment or feel free to email me directly.

I understand. I’m working on this myself.

I really hate this part of writing. I am struggling as well. Writing this was a great start to a new day.

For me writing is often a struggle. I guess I’m not a “natural” but I am called so I just submit my words to His hand. So far He’s never failed me. 🙂

I’m right there with you, Tammy! Thank you for the encouraging words. It helps to know I’m not the only one. I think we can all relate. School has started back up for me this week and it’s been difficult to get any writing done. I was planning to have the devotional study I’m writing completely ready for a “test drive” by this past Monday. It did not happen, but I’m learning to be okay with that and to pray for wisdom and bits of time to write. It’s easy to get all wrapped up in how this is all “supposed” to go and forget why we began in the first place. I think it’s a good thing to stop and reflect sometimes.

I completely agree! I am not typically one to get caught up in what other people are doing, but I find it very hard not to feel that way with blogging for some reason. Looking forward to checking out your devotional study!

I am struggling with overanaylsis paralysis. I had such a strong writing week and post last week that I am paralyzed and can’t seem to move forward.

I am with you on that one. I think it hits us when we least expect us. Just do something. Something small to start. Can’t wait to see you next week!
