How to Instantly Change Lives
From Tammy: I am excited to introduce you to my friend, Jim Woods. Jim is an awesome encourager. He is a writer and a life coach. He loves to encourage people to use their creativity to follow their dreams. He also is a chocolate chip cookie addict. You can follow his blog here, or follow him on Twitter here.
What’s the best advice I could EVER give you?
Be nice.
It’s that simple.
Don’t be a jerk.
I have encountered many, many. many nice people.
But I’ve also encountered quite a few jerks.
Part of me wants to remember the jerks and repeatedly call them out as jerks.
But to do that actually makes me somewhat of a jerk too.
And it takes away the focus from what I believe we are called to do.
We are called to love.
To build relationships.
To to be a friend to others.
Jerks don’t have friends. They have people who use them for things (and aren’t real friends).
Sure, when someone is a jerk to you, it’s easy to want to be a jerk back.
But it is better to either say something nice or to say NOTHING at all.
If you want to make a positive difference in the world, you must ALWAYS start with one thing:
Be nice.
What is the best advice you could give someone?
I couldn’t agree more, Jim! Good to see you here. Both you and Tammy are beautiful encouragers 🙂
Thanks, Eileen! I appreciate that!!
Thanks so much Eileen! You are an AMAZING encourager and I really appreciate all of the support. By the way I’m FINALLY making good coffee now with the Aero Press. (wooo hoooo-love that thing!!)
Great thoughts Jim!
‘Saying nothing at all’ is something I am still learning to do. Not easy when you are good at slinging words together. But I am learning that I’d rather regret something i could have said than something I actually said.
So true! It is hard to say nothing sometimes.
Thanks so much Ngina! I really appreciate that!! It is definitely easier said than done.
Awesome jim! simply beautiful words
Thanks so much Prathipa! I really appreciate that. You are very nice; so you are totally living what this post talks about!
Great post Jim. Jerks not only force us to exercise discipline when we have to continually ‘say nothing at all’, but they inadvertently strengthen us in the process. 🙂
Thank you, Jim & Tammy, for always being nice. You both are great encouragers! 🙂
